Welcome to Red Star Rum
Our Product
Red Star Rum is the first and only estate distillery in the history of Aruba.

Most commercial rums in the world are made with molasses, which is the restproduct in the sugar making process, originating from sugarcane or sugarbeets. These rums are frequently distilled a few times to concentrate the alcohol percentage for storage and transport and then diluted just before bottling with water.
We follow a traditional and artisanal way of rum making. In Brazil this type of rum is known as Cachaça and in the French Islands (Guadaloupe/Martinique) it as the denomination of origin ‘Rhum Argicole’ to distinguish this speciality rum from commercial products.

Sugarcane is grown on our own farm and is harvested twice a year. It is immediately pressed in our mill and this natural sugarjuice is placed in tanks to be fermented with our specially chosen yeast. After a few days the yeast has converted all the sugars into alcohol and converted the juice basically into a sugarcane wine.
Distilling
This liquid is then transferred to our copper pot still, which is wood fired and for this we use the same sugarcane stalks that have dried up after being pressed. We only do a single distillation, which preserves a lot of the grassy, sugarcane flavors in the rum. This is a trait that distinguishes rhum agricoles from commercial rums.
